this is just a note to let you all know that dave was struck by a train this afternoon in Ruston. For those who might not know, he is a current student at the Louisiana center for the blind. At last report, he was talking and conscious when being taken to the hospital. Keep him in your thoughts and prairs.

Post 11 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 13:20:37

Yeah, it was his heart, and he was only 31. That is weird about so many Daves on here.

Post 12 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 13:22:33

as far as I know, dave has no life threatening injuries. i'll say he was extremely lucky.

Post 13 by skittles_freak (the freak of skittles) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 16:27:10

that's a relief!

Post 14 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 16:31:23

it sure is!

Post 15 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 17:44:47

Absolutely. He could have lost limbs ... all kinds of terrible things could have gone wrong. sure hope he pulls through.

Post 16 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 18:52:16

Glad to hear he's doing well, and was not harmed too badly.

Post 17 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 19:21:35

it appears that dave has been taken to a shrieve port hospital, and is in serious condition.

Post 18 by skittles_freak (the freak of skittles) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 3:01:45

omg! That's not cool! I hope he's alright!

Post 19 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 5:34:00

oh that's not good at all, jus when we thaught he'd escaped the worst

Post 20 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 11:18:43

It appears as if dave became disoriented and began walking alongside the tracks instead of over them. He is stil in a shreveport hospital, and has a broken leg, and other unknown injuries.

Post 21 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 11:52:58

When he recovers, I sure hope he gets some intensive mobility training. It's a real tragedy that this happened, and I hope it doesn't scare him off ever traveling independently again.

Post 22 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 13:33:20

Ouch, I'm sorry to hear his injuries were more serious than previously thought. He is still in my prayers. Thanks for your updates, Teardrop!

Post 23 by CrazedMidget (Sweet fantacy's really do come in small packages!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 13:37:19

aww I feel so bad. Thats horrible. Ok I have one question though, all of the zoners that have died, r named dave. I always wonder why?

Post 24 by Albanac (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 13:41:09

JEssica, total coincidence. They could've had other names. They are just unrelated, though extremely tragic incidences. I am sorry to hear about Dave here though, I know what it is to vere as many of us do. I too, like Becky, hope he pulls through and is able to get back out there with a little more mobility training so that this doesn't happen again.

Post 25 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 14:59:40

yes and I also hope it doesn't scare him from traveling alone.

Post 26 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 19:22:05

It looks like Dave will pull through!!! As far as his training, I know that he started at the center on October first, so he was fairly new to the training itself, and I don't think it will hinder his mobility, though he may be out of comition for a good while. He is still in serious, but stable condition, with a few broken bones, and some sore internal organs. Thanks to all who have, and will continue to post. I'll let Dave know of all your best wishes and good thoughts.

Post 29 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 22-Nov-2008 16:30:34

Glad to hear he's going to be all right. I imagine he's got to be in a lot of pain, though. I'm continuing to pray for his recovery.

Awww, that's sad, but definitely good he's getting better. It's months later but I'll still pray for him.

Post 34 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 23-Nov-2008 3:51:56

Leia, what do you mean by, "it's months later?" This was first posted less than a week ago, according to the date on the original post.

Post 35 by Brooke (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 23-Nov-2008 10:51:49

Awww, I really hope he's okay and makes a full recovery!

Post 36 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Sunday, 23-Nov-2008 17:04:27

Yes, it was only less then a week ago.

Post 37 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Sunday, 23-Nov-2008 17:23:20

Oh I thought someone said something about it being in October. sorry, lol.

Post 38 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Sunday, 23-Nov-2008 17:26:14

Well not lol... lol at my stupidity. I really should check dates, shouldn't I? Anyhow, I hope he gets better. Didn't know him all that well, but things like this are always sad and I don't like anyone hurting, it's sad.

Post 39 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 29-Nov-2008 21:55:17

I hope he pulls through and I'll keep him in my prayers.

Post 40 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 30-Nov-2008 19:47:58

Anymore updates on him, Teardrop?

Post 41 by skittles_freak (the freak of skittles) on Monday, 01-Dec-2008 16:13:41

yes, anymore updates? Poor guy... It's quite sad... the night before the accident, I was talking to dave about a psychology project I was working on.

Post 42 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Monday, 01-Dec-2008 16:34:22

glad he's pulling through.

Post 43 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Monday, 01-Dec-2008 18:52:37

He'll be in my prayers as well. I didn't really know him but think I saw him around once or twice. Please keep us updated.

Post 44 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Monday, 01-Dec-2008 22:08:16

I said hi to him once. I think he didn't notice, because I say hi to people randomly. I remember checking to see if he was John, lol. Karrie, it's sort of creepy talking all normal with someone and taking their presence for granted, and you find out next day they nearly died.

Post 45 by Maiden of the Moonlight (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 02-Jan-2009 6:10:52

Awww dang, any updates about him?

Post 46 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Friday, 02-Jan-2009 10:59:54

I've seen him on Skype several times within the past week or so, so looks like he's recovered, a bit at least.

Post 47 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 02-Jan-2009 11:59:20

Glad to hear that. It's easier to recover in your own home sometimes. Hospitals are great places to be when you have to, but home is far more comfortable.

Post 48 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Friday, 02-Jan-2009 12:53:39

Oh wow! Well I'm glad to hear he's doing all right! That is really hard, and I hope he's able to travel again! Although I think it's going to be hard, because i've been hit before, so I know what that's like! Although I was not enjered, I was traumatized, and so i can only imagine a train! Wow! But yeah, that's why you should never take things for granted, you never know when it'll be the last time you talk to a person. Anyway, sincerely hope things are well with him!
Ashley
